Bricks Up was born from my childhood passion for LEGO bricks. Growing up, I loved building and creating with them and this affection has not stopped as I’ve entered adulthood. And so in 2021, I created the LEGO news website Bricks Up to report on my passion and express my opinion. My goal was to develop a platform where LEGO enthusiasts could find the latest news, rumours and leaks about the wide range of sets and themes released every year by the toy company giant. I wanted to foster a sense of community among fans, both young and old and provide valuable insights into the world of LEGO.
Bricks Up deserves to win because it's not just a business; it's a labour of love. I've poured time, effort but also happiness into this project, ensuring that it delivers high-quality content that LEGO fans worldwide deserve. The website's growth in traffic and engagement metrics speaks for itself with post views increasing each month. But overall, it's more of a passion and hobby for me than anything else and I love being able to interact and be a part of an ever-growing and welcoming community. Bricks Up is not just about the number of views and clicks to the website; it's about building a thriving LEGO community where fans can access up-to-date, accurate LEGO news with just the click of a button.
Running a business as a full-time student has its advantages, like flexibility and the chance to apply classroom knowledge in the real world and really test my ability through the likes of digital marketing and constantly keeping the website's SEO up to date. However, it can be challenging to balance academics and entrepreneurship when both are so important to me. Time management and resource constraints are ongoing challenges when the website is purely run by me. Yet, these challenges have taught me valuable lessons in resilience and adaptability and every day I strive to improve Bricks Up and continue to grow in the LEGO community and interact with other passionate master builders.
My inspirations include simply watching TV shows such as Dragons Den and being inspired by both the Dragons but also the innovative entrepreneurs. All these people started up small and grew big through determination and innovative thinking. Personally, those are great assets to have in any sector but especially business and I hope that I use those skills with Bricks Up and continue to use those skills to interact better with the LEGO Group and community. And even the LEGO Group itself has continued to be an inspiration as a constant source of inspiration with its commitment to creativity, community and diversity.
One of my proudest moments was when Bricks Up's articles were featured on well-known LEGO fan websites and shared by prominent members of the LEGO community. It showed that the LEGO community really valued my content and knowing that I can search for specific news on different LEGO sets and see my own site appears just brings so much joy. Additionally, reaching a milestone of around 50,000 monthly visitors on average over the past year is a significant achievement. These successes validate the hard work and passion invested in Bricks Up by myself over the past two years of its existence.
